Kelley Mercuri Says Thanks to Community

Niagara This Week, June 2, 2011

As the Ride to Conquer Cancer quickly approaches, training has been pumped up and the fundraising continues. On Saturday, June 4, from 8 a.m. until noon I am holding a yard sale and raffle  for the Ride to Conquer Cancer at 23 Oriole Cresc. in Grimsby. Hope to see you there.

Fundraising for the Ride this year has gone amazingly well. The Grimsby and Beamsville merchants once again were fantastic with their generous donations to my silent auction martini night. Special thanks to Ali and Holly at Shoppers Drug Mart for the wonderful gift bag, AJ from Orchardview Pharmacy for the men’s gift bag, gifts and certificates from Harmony House, LT Sports, Cole’s Florist,  Giant Tiger, Judge and Jester, Salon Adamo, Queenston Chev Olds, Coffee Culture, Mimosa Spa,  Home Hardware and Marks Work Warehouse, a chocolate emergency basket from Colleen Mercuri, icewine from Noell Baran, a guitar from the Fun School of Music, a painting by Katia Turgeon, and  a martini set from Daniela Troiani. The total raised that evening was $850. Thank you to all my guests.

Also, the zumba fundraiser at BT a few weeks ago raised $300. A special thank you to the instructors from Trinity Health Canada, Julie Pollock and Siobhan Thompson. We all had such a grand time.
Lastly, I need to send out a special thank you to the gentleman at the Beer Store two weeks ago. I was in line returning bottles for the bottle drive collection that I have been doing for the last few months and had a conversation with him outside about all the bottles I had. When I was in line waiting for my refund, he came up to me and gave me $20 from his own refund. He said in front of everyone there that he thought what I was doing was wonderful.  I don’t know his name, but I want him to know that it was his $20 that brought my fundraising up to the minimum of $2,500 making me eligible to participate in this year’s ride. Grimsby is a wonderful community to live in and I am very proud of how generous and supportive everyone is. Thank you again my anonymous donor – you made my day.
